Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (CHC43415)

This qualification addresses work in residential facilities and/or other community agencies and day centres. In addition, it addresses work under professional supervision within defined organisation guidelines or as sole practitioners

These workers may;

  • Assist with design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas.
  • Be responsible for a limited number of other workers.

This course includes industry based training and therefore participants of this course will either:

  • be working in the Community Services and/or Health and Allied Sector;
  • aiming to learn new skills &/or upskill;
  • be in an employer hosted traineeship;
  • Be willing to complete placement hours within the relevant industry as part of this course.

Entry Requirements

RTO requirements

Domestic students

Training and assessments are conducted in English. Applicants must possess sound written and spoken English skills. You will be required to complete a Language Literacy, Numeracy test paper as part of an enrolment interview.

  • Applicants are required to attend a Pre- Training Interview as part of the enrolment process
  • Training and assessments are conducted in English.
  • Applicants must possess sound written and spoken English skills.
  • Applicants may be required to complete a Language, literacy and numeracy test paper as part of a selection interview.
  • Obtain a valid Police Check (required for practical placement purposes) and Working with Children Check if required

Some assessment tasks are completed using a computer and internet, and it is recommended that students have these available before or at enrolment.

There are no pre-requisite or any other training package entry requirements to enrol in this course.

Duration

The average course duration for Domestic students is 34 weeks at self-paced learning on or off-site 2 days per week, face to face, with 160 hours of practical placement; this may vary due to the number of hours required for practical placement, mode of study and public holidays which may fall on usual days of delivery. 

I.e. 8 hours/day –2 days/week of Direct learning, for 30 weeks, followed by 4 weeks, or 160 hours of Practical placement.

For International students, the duration is 78 weeks including 160hours of practical placement

(NB: Elective units will be selected for delivery by ETEA and are subject to change to meet client and industry requirement).

The Victorian Training Guarantee is making vocational education and training more accessible to people who do not hold a post school qualification, or who want to gain a higher-level qualification than they currently hold. RPL/Credit Transfer

You can apply for recognition of prior learning, academic credit and work experience towards this qualification. During the course of your life you will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge. Through work, volunteer roles, family commitments and various tasks undertaken in everyday life, you are building up a bank of knowledge. The evidence of these skills and knowledge accumulated can be used to help you gain a qualification.
